Super Ornament is a Black Country design studio founded by RCA graduate Adam Waldron and art director Safiyya Lea.
The studio designs and manufactures furniture and objects in aluminium and steel, working exclusively with the Black Country's network of fabricators and finishers. Every piece is developed through close collaboration with the people who make it, allowing manufacturing to shape the design rather than simply produce it.
This approach has led to a collection defined by exposed construction, visible assembly and enduring materials. Rather than concealing how an object is made, Super Ornament treats the process of making as part of its character, creating pieces built to be repaired rather than replaced.
For centuries, the Black Country has been at the centre of Britain's engineering and manufacturing industries. Many of the workshops and specialist skills that shaped the region continue to exist today. By keeping production local, Super Ornament supports this network while demonstrating what contemporary British manufacturing can achieve.
Alongside its own collection, the studio has produced commissions for organisations including Soho House and Thomas Deacon Academy, and its work has featured in installations for Apple TV and Beats by Dre during the Miami Grand Prix.
